KPC ramble, Saturday 14th January

Following the success of September's ramble, we've organised another one, to walk off the effects of any over-indulgence over the Christmas period.

Meet at 11:15 in the car park in Abinger Hammer (turn left off the A25 opposite the tea rooms, just before the clock that protrudes over the road, and the car park is on the left).  If you want to use public transport, you can catch the 465 bus from Teddington (09:30 at the Hogarth), Kingston (09:41 at Cromwell Road Bus Station) or Surbiton (09:51 at the rail station) to Dorking Railway Station, then change onto the 32 bus (departs 10:48) towards Guildford, alighting at the Abinger Hammer clock. However, all that takes rather a long time, so if you would like a lift, ring Gill on 020 8979 2482, or 07944 841 999.

We’ll start off by climbing (it's the only uphill bit!) to join the North Downs Way for a while, then we'll make our way down to Shere, a very picturesque village.  We'll stop for lunch at the White Horse pub which does good food and should have a roaring fire to warm us up.  After suitable refreshment we shall walk back to Abinger Hammer, where you could if you wish have a cuppa in the tea rooms.

The walk is about 51/2 miles and should take about 31/2 hours, excluding stops.  It will probably be muddy in places, so wear suitable footwear.
