AFGHANISTAN STORIES
BY
MAYA EVANS
WITH HER INIMITABLE HUMAN TOUCH

Ordinary Afghans just happen to live there and got buffeted helplessly as the vicious currents of international politics stormed their land for 40 years.

Officially Western armies rode to rescue Afghans from oppression. Another version says Afghans were poised to do the job themselves but Western invasion prevented it and left them an unrepresentative client government, world-beatingly corrupt. Now Taliban is lazy shorthand for hundreds of disaffected groups mounting guerrilla insurgencies that defy military control.

?SICK OF POLITICS?

MAYA EVANS, of VOICES FOR CREATIVE NON-VIOLENCE,
spends time in Afghanistan and works with Afghan groups and fortunately for us she can report what she witnesses.
