Jim Addington

A celebration of the life of Jim Addington was held at Friends House, Euston on 6^th November. The room filled to overflowing. Amongst those who came to speak of their memories of Jim were Tony Benn, Kate Hudson, Noel Hamel, Jeremy Corbyn, Bruce Kent, Vijay Mehta and Walter Wolfgang. The character that emerged from their reminiscences was indeed the man that we knew –thoughtful, charismatic, an original thinker who caused many of us to reassess aspects of how to get to a peaceful world, and a gentleman.

Kingston choral society, of which Jim was an enthusiastic member, sang two songs, clarinettist Laurie Bielby played two familiar pieces, and in the end we all sang rousing peace songs.

Jim would have loved it all.
