Pres Bush issued ‘signing statements’ with 500 pieces of legislation including the anti-torture statute. These were ‘fingers-crossed-behind-the-back’ promises in which he asserted his right to interpret the legislation as he chooses, and to continue to do whatever he deems necessary for national security. I think all of Congress should resign since it’s no longer necessary to have legislators. The savings on their salaries could go towards building more secret prisons.
